When I was an student only 18 cycles completed, I came down with a lung desease, which was life threatening and put me into a hospital bed for 4 long, long months, as I had all the time in the world, I read a lot and came acraoss a simple yaoga Breathing exercise Pocketbook.
Started breathing exercises (Pranayama) and made a fast recovery that even stunned the Professor!
Which in turn stunned me!
Little later after recovery, I travelled to Morocco, there I got "The Autobiography of a Yogi" - Paramhansa Yogananda-
I read it and knew I want to go to this country called INDIA and managed to do so 2 years later.
This did send my to many places in India and many more experiences filled with confrontations of the unknown, never experienced, followed by subsequential visits, since India, it's wonderful wisdom, art and culture since, never left me.
I read about and the books of Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Sir Aurobindo, Krishnamurti, Sivananda, Ramana Maharishi, Gita, Srimad Mahabagavatam, translations of the Upanishads, the Vedas and many, many other Publications, understood at first very little of it, but kept reading and studying, started Yoga, Asana, Pranayama, been to various Ashrams and holy places like Vrindaban, Hampi, Arunachala, Varanasi, Sarnath, Hemis Gompa, Rishikesh, Hardwar... walked the Himalayas, visited Kashmir, Ladakh, Nepal and Sri Lanka and enjoed every bit of these experiences, which finally became the very core of my life, just recently, after a large "loop" which huas brought my through a marriage, beeing selfemployed, and many countries, doing this and that - I started to take up regular Yoga (Ashtanga) Exercise again and feel "back home" once more!
And the date of the first day of practicing again, coinciced exactly with the date of my first Visit to India, 36 years ago!
Now I would like to make a contribution and think that becoming a trained yoga teacher to spread this great, immeasurable wisdom, to help people to overcome sorrow, suffering and Ignorance, just to share this wonderful knowledge, this immense experience of self realization!
Light the light!
Namastasje, namastasje, namasatasje'eh......!
